Climate

In June, Porto typically enjoys warm and sunny weather, with temperatures ranging from pleasantly mild to moderately hot, and occasional breezes along the coastlines.

You can expect daytime averages ranging from 22°C to 30°C and nighttime lows of 15°C to 20°C.

Time Zone

Porto use time zone UTC+0, so it is 7 hours behind Perth (Western Australia) and 4 hours ahead of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

Electricity

Portugal runs on a 220V power system, making use of two-pronged plugs and matching sockets.

If you’re arriving from outside Continental Europe, you’ll probably need an adaptor and if you’re country utilizes a different voltage system (110V), you should bring a power transformer as well.

Currency

The currency used in Porto is the Euro (EUR). Banknotes are €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200 and €500, while coins are 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, €1 and €2.

Tipping

Tips are not included, tipping isn’t expected in Portugal. If you receive good service and feel you would like to tip, then do so. Probably best to leave it in cash, around 10%.

You never get the option to add tips on a credit card transaction, the banks in Portugal charge high fees, the waiter won’t see a penny.

Transportation

Porto is a very walkable city, but there are plenty of rideshare services available like Uber.
